This week

This week we started bookclubs. They are very fun. We all picked books to read and are reading together and talking about the books.

Luke C. taught us   about fish and their eggs.We dissected a fish.

our class made timelines of a made up or real character. we had to make the time on clocks and write the length that it was for each time.

A great trip!

We had a fantastic (if chilly!) trip to Jamestown this weekend. We climbed aboard a replica of the Susan Constance, the ship that crossed the Atlantic to reach Jamestown.

We tried our hand at being resourceful in a Powhatan home - making fire, grinding sunflower seeds, and removing fiber from a yucca leaf.

We learned about how Powhatan Indians made fire to cook and keep warm.

And how they used fire to hollow out large trees for canoes!

We got to try scraping the fur from a deer hide.

And were greeted by musketeers at the gates to the Jamestown fort!

(Oh...and after a long hiatus...we are thrilled to have our rugs and pillows back in our classroom!!)
